Governor’s Weekly Message: Volunteerism Brings our Community Together

Former Governor Jack Markell (2009-2017) | News | Date Posted: Friday, April 20, 2012

Share your Stories of Volunteer Service

DOVER – In his weekly message, Governor Markell talks about the annual Week of Service and how the event has grown since 2009’s Weekend of Service. The Governor and First Lady kicked off the Week of Service last Sunday at an event for the Delaware National Guard’s “War on Hunger.”

“All across our great state, either as individuals or part of a community group; either as a team representing a great small business or by the hundreds from some of our state’s largest employers, people have been going that extra mile to help each other,” said the Governor.

“Give us the chance to share your story of service – the critical work you and other volunteers do, not only this week, but every week, to pull together and keep Delaware, moving forward.”

The Governor encourages volunteers to send pictures of them in action to his Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or email account.

Every Friday, the Governor’s office releases a new Weekly Message in video, audio, and transcript form.  The message is available on:
