New Look For DEMA Web Page

Delaware Emergency Management Agency | Date Posted: Friday, February 6, 2015

(Smyrna) –  The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) announces that it has posted a newly-designed web page on the internet.  It can be found at dema.delaware.gov.  DEMA worked with the Delaware Government Information Center (GIC), which is responsible for web design and maintenance for state agencies, using a “common look and feel” concept.   This allows users of web pages to be familiar with the layout and navigation of pages across all state agencies, while providing the flexibility needed for each agency’s site to be effective.

The new design is also smart-phone friendly, featuring an orientation that is vertical rather than the horizontal layout used to fit computer monitors.  Now people who access the DEMA web site will find it easier to view information, regardless of what type of electronic device is used for access.

The home page has been given a new look with the addition of a panel where visitors may view videos, or, during emergencies, special information that may be featured.  New icons will direct visitors to specific types of information most often requested, while retaining links to all other information available.  There are also links to DEMA’s social media sites on Facebook and Twitter.

The new design will continue to be a work in progress, with changes and additions to be made as a need is identified.  Delaware Emergency Management Agency Director Jamie Turner said, “I am quite pleased with our new look.  As more and more people look to web sites and social media for both everyday information and critical emergency information, it is important for DEMA to make sure that our information and delivery of that information, keep pace with new technologies.  And, we will continue to explore ways to deliver more information to our constituents as quickly and more importantly, as accurately, as possible.”

The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) is the lead state agency for coordination of comprehensive emergency preparedness, training, response, recovery and mitigation services in order to save lives, protect Delaware’s economic base and reduce the impact of emergencies.
