The Waters Around Us presents a selection of carefully detailed, realist images of maritime subjects and views of Delaware coastal areas.
Division grants support a variety of projects and programs, from storytelling for preschool reading readiness, to community-based participatory arts, to professional exhibitions and performances featuring local, national and international artists. These grants support arts programming offered by both arts and community organizations based in 23 large and small communities across Delaware.
Program explores child actress Shirley Temple’s July 2, 1938 visit to New Castle where she ate lunch in the Court House Tea Room.
The title Midway alludes to the space between science and art in which Kelly works as well as the arcade influences from a carnival midway. Kelly is inspired by movement and incorporates elements of amusement, surprise, and entertainment into his paper-based and pop-up sculpture.
