More than 770 fourth-grade students from seven elementary schools participated in Wednesday’s Make a Splash festival, a DNREC-sponsored event that educates students on the diversity of estuary life and the importance of Delaware’s water resources.

Three special events explore Delaware’s long-standing connection to the Netherlands which stretches back in time to the state’s first European colony, Swanendael, established by the Dutch in 1631 in present-day Lewes.




“Listen Up! The Finale” at Dover’s Old State House on April 8, 2017

Conclusion of the year-long spoken-word program that engages young people in Delaware history.




Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs to sponsor 18 special events during April 2017

Highlights include the Slave Dwelling Project, America’s Founding Fathers and Mothers, and programs on Delaware’s Dutch heritage.
