Delaware students experience renewable energy technology firsthand in 2018 Junior Solar Sprint model car competition sponsored by DNREC

HARRINGTON – DNREC’s Division of Energy & Climate teamed up with the Delaware Technology Student Association Thursday, April 26 to host 19 teams of middle school students from across the state for the 2018 Junior Solar Sprint solar-powered model car competition, with racers competing for top speed in time trials, as well as for awards in engineering design and creative design.




Charter School of Wilmington wins 2018 Delaware Envirothon competition sponsored by DNREC

GREENWOOD – Charter School of Wilmington Team A was named the champion of the 2018 Delaware Envirothon competition held today at Swartzentruber Farm in Greenwood and sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Today’s win marks the school’s 19th win in the event’s 22-year history, including an unbroken winning streak since 2002. Charter School of Wilmington Teams’ B and C placed second and third, respectively, in this year’s Envirothon competition.




State awards grants to summer, afterschool programs

The Delaware Department of Education has awarded five new grants for afterschool and summer programs under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.

The 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) program grants are designed to provide students with enrichment activities to improve the academic success of students from Title I schools. Schools are designated as Title I based on high percentage of students who come from low-income families. The money comes from federal funds.




Statewide Unit Count Agreed-Upon Procedures Report – School Year 2017–2018 – Sussex Academy

State Auditor, R. Thomas Wagner, Jr., has released the School Year 2017-2018 Statewide Unit Count Agreed-Upon Procedures Report for Sussex Academy. The Office of Auditor of Accounts (AOA) performed procedures to determine whether Sussex Academy properly included selected students in the September 30th Unit Count.
