DPH Launches Middle School Pilot Program to Prevent Addiction and Violence

Today, the Division of Public Health (DPH) announced the launch of a life-skills pilot program at eight middle schools across Delaware to teach students the skills they need to prevent addiction, promote positive decision-making and reduce violence. DPH is partnering with the Department of Education to bring the Botvin LifeSkills® curriculum to the classroom.




Free college applications, more offered during Delaware’s College Application Month

Delaware high school students can apply to select colleges and universities for free in October and November in celebration of the state’s fifth annual College Application Month, which began this week and runs through Nov. 17.




Delaware sees increases in AP participation, performance

More Delaware public school students are taking and excelling in Advanced Placement courses. New data from the College Board, which administers the tests for the courses that can earn students college credits while in high school, shows that in the past decade Delaware has steadily increased both student participation and performance.

Sussex Tech teacher named Delaware’s 2018 Teacher of the Year

A high school English teacher from the Sussex Technical School District is Delaware’s 2018 State Teacher of the Year. Governor John Carney made the announcement tonight at the annual banquet honoring the 20 district and charter teachers of the year at Dover Downs Hotel and Conference Center in Dover.
