With support of nearly $250,000 from the nonprofit USA Funds, Delaware has launched an innovative effort to ensure more high schoolers graduate ready for college-level English Language Arts (ELA) coursework and not in need of remedial classes that cost money without earning them credits toward a degree.

The winners in the Division of Watershed Stewardship’s Rain Barrel Painting Contest have been announced, and are now on display at the Delaware Agricultural Museum.




Governor’s Weekly Message: Expanding Access to High-Quality Early Learning Programs

Wilmington, DE – In his weekly message, Governor Markell highlights the efforts of the state to give all Delaware families access to high-quality early learning programs.
“The first few years of a child’s life are crucial to his or her success. That’s why one of our top goals has been giving all Delaware families access to high-quality early learning programs and why I made early childhood funding one of my top budget priorities this year,” Governor Markell said. “These efforts show how Delaware and the Obama Administration’s historic investments in early learning can make immediate and lasting change in the lives of our children. By continuing to live up to those commitments, we’ll create bright futures for our kids, and we’ll keep Delaware moving forward.”




DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship invites public to vote online through June 8 for best painted rain barrel in youth and adult art contests

The public’s art appreciation is sought in voting for favorite entries now online in the 2016 youth and adult rain barrel painting contests sponsored by DNREC’s Watershed Assessment and Management Section.
