Child Predator Task Force undercover investigation leads to child pornography arrest
Dover –
A proactive undercover online investigation by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force
resulted today in the arrest of a Delaware man on child pornography charges. As a result of that
investigation, officers from the Child Predator Task Force and Dover Police Department this morning
executed a search warrant at a residential apartment at 1300 S. Farmview Drive in Dover. Officers
seized a laptop computer and other digital media which contained numerous files of child
pornography, as well as a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
“Our Child Predator Task Force continues to work proactively to identify and stop illegal
activity that threatens our kids,” Attorney General Biden said. “We’re using all the resources at our
disposal to protect our children.”
The sole occupant of the apartment, Michael B. Matthews, was taken to Dover Police
Department for further investigation, where he was charged with 29 counts of using a computer to
unlawfully depict a child engaging in a prohibited sex act and possession of marijuana. Matthews is a
Wesley College student and resides at the apartment where the search warrant was executed.
Following his arrest, Matthews appeared before JP Court #7 and was committed to the James
T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $290,200 secured bond.
