Governor Orders American, Delaware Flags Flown at Half-Staff to Honor Former Adjutant General Arthur Episcopo

Upon hearing news of the death of former Delaware National Guard Adjutant General Arthur Episcopo, Governor Markell ordered the American and Delaware flags at state buildings and facilities be flown at half-staff beginning Wednesday, February 6th until the close of business Thursday, February 7th.  He also issued the issued the following statement:

“General Episcopo was a great leader and a dedicated American who was committed to ensuring the safety and freedom of Delawareans.  I hope his family finds comfort in knowing that Delaware is a better place because of his efforts.”

Lt. Gen. Episcopo served as Adjutant General of the Delaware National Guard – the highest ranking military position in Delaware – from 1989 to 1993, retiring in 1993 after 42 years of service in the National Guard.  Upon retirement, Governor Carper awarded him the state’s highest award; The Delaware Conspicuous Service Cross (first Gold Star) and promoted him to Lieutenant General.
