(Smyrna, DE) — Fourteen area children from seven schools were honored today for producing art work to be included in the 2013 -2014 PSEG Nuclear Emergency Plan Information Calendar for Delaware and New Jersey.
The honorees were chosen from among hundreds of elementary school students who submitted art work. All of the participating schools are in the Emergency Planning Zone, which is the area within a 10 mile radius of the Salem/Hope Creek Generating Stations in New Jersey. Interest remains high among residents about the nuclear industry and power plant, and the calendar is a excellent resource for emergency planning information. Department of Safety and Homeland Security Director Lewis D. Schiliro joined Thomas P. Joyce, President of PSEG, David Burgin, Corporate Manager-Emergency Preparedness at PSEG, and Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) Director Jamie Turner to honor the students and present them with gifts and certificates. Guests in attendance included school district officials, principals, teachers, parents and other proud family members.
