Battle of the Brews winners named

HARRINGTON – Three homebrewers have been named Best in Show in the 2013 Battle of the Brews contest at the Delaware State Fair, sponsored by the Delaware Department of Agriculture.

Winners were Clint Lang of Easton, Md., for Biere de Miel, a Sour Belgian Farmhouse Ale, first place; Scott Perlot of Smyrna, Del., for Citra Rye, an American Rye Beer, second place; and Brian Collins of Philadelphia, Pa., for Dark Side of Brown, an American Brown Ale, third place.

The winners in the Third Annual Battle of the Brews were chosen by judges certified by the Beer Judge Certification Program from among 100 bottles of home-brewed beer from 51 competitors. Seventy percent of competitors were from Delaware.
