New Castle man receives lengthy prison sentence for murder

Wilmington – Attorney General Beau Biden’s office announced that a New Castle man was sentenced to a lengthy prison term today for the January, 2012 death of an elderly relative.

Joseph Verucci was arrested by New Castle County Police in January, 2012 and charged with the murder of his 74 year-old uncle Thomas Verucci.  Verucci’s body was found by police in his Martin Drive residence in New Castle, where the defendant was also residing at the time of the crime.  The investigation revealed that Joseph Verucci stabbed and beat his uncle to death while under the influence of crack cocaine.
