Flag Lowering for Victims of Tragedy in Nice, France

On July 14, Governor Markell ordered the Delaware flag to be flown at half-staff until July 18, 2016 as a remembrance of fallen firefighter Tim McClanahan.

This afternoon, President Obama ordered American flags at all U.S. government buildings and facilities to be flown at half-staff until July 19, 2016 “as a mark of respect for the victims of the attack perpetrated on July 14, 2016, in Nice, France”.

Therefore, in concurrence with the President’s order and as an expression of Delaware’s sympathy for the victims of the attack in France, Governor Markell has ordered both the American and Delaware flags at state buildings and facilities be flown at half-staff until the close of business on July 19, 2016.
