Flags Lowered to Honor Passing of William Quillen

Governor Jack Markell has ordered state and federal flags lowered to honor the life and passing of former Delaware Supreme Court Justice William T. Quillen. Quillen served on the Supreme Court from 1978 to 1983. He also was Delaware Secretary of State from 1993 to 1994 under the administration of Governor Tom Carper. During his time as Secretary of State, he was a driving force behind the planning of a new Public Archives building. He also has been a champion of the preservation of New Castle’s history, including as a former vice president and director of the New Castle Historical Society.

Flags are to be lowered to half-staff the morning of Tuesday August 23 . Flags are to be returned to full staff at the start of business Monday, August 29.
