DUI enforcement over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend nets 15 DUI arrests and 68 additional traffic citations.
Dover, DE. March 26, 2018 – The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) coordinated DUI checkpoints in all three counties on St. Patrick’s Day.
Working together with the Delaware State Police and local law enforcement, OHS supported five DUI checkpoints across the state. In addition, OHS partnered with law enforcement in Maryland and Virginia to patrol the entire length of U.S. 13 from the Virginia line to just north of Harrington, DE as part of the multi-jurisdictional “Border-to-Border” DUI enforcement initiative.
OHS is pleased to report that Checkpoint Strikeforce and Border to Border were extremely successful. The statewide media coverage was a deterrent that discouraged many impaired drivers from taking to the highways. In Delaware, officers made 15 DUI arrests, and netted an additional 68 traffic arrests or citations for other infractions, including 16 drug arrests and the apprehension of one wanted person.

OHS will coordinate the next Checkpoint Strikeforce effort on July 14th, 2018 which will include five DUI checkpoints statewide as well as DUI patrols to deter the public from driving while impaired.
