Flag lowering for former Senator Steven Amick

With the passing of former State Senator Steven Amick on Wednesday, January 23 Governor Carney has ordered the United States and Delaware flags at state buildings and facilities be flown at half-staff beginning Friday morning, February 1 as a mark of respect for Mr. Amick and his service to Delaware.

Mr. Amick’s legislative career began when he was elected to the Delaware House of Representatives in 1986. During his tenure in the House he chaired the Judiciary Committee, the House Rules Committee, the Substance Abuse Committee, and the Joint Sunset Committee. He was then elected to the Delaware State Senate in 1994 where he held the positions of Senate Minority Whip and Senate Minority Leader until retiring in 2008.

Services for Mr. Amick are scheduled for Saturday, February 2. Flags are to be returned to full staff Monday morning, February 4.
