Poster Contest Winners Celebrated

Dover, Delaware – The Governor’s Advisory Council for Exceptional Citizens (GACEC) once again hosted a Disability History poster contest. The contest begins in October which s disability history and awareness month in Delaware. The annual Disability History poster contest provides kindergarten through 12th grade students an opportunity to convey their thoughts about disability awareness issues through art.

Posters were submitted and judged by division’s elementary, middle, high school, computer-generated art (available to grades 9-12 only) and adapted art. Adapted art includes artwork done by students who may need to use adaptive equipment and require assistance to complete their project.

First, second and third place winners were chosen in each division, and winners and their families were invited to an awards banquet hosted by GACEC. The awards baquet was held this year on December 11 at the Duncan Center in Dover. This year’s theme was “Inclusion is within everyone’s ability, WE ARE ALL ABLE. Winners were treated to lunch and recognized for their participation and outstanding art work.
