Lincoln man to serve life in prison for 2018 homicide

A Lincoln man has been sentenced for the 2018 murder of a 20-year-old. Ahmir Bailey, 22, was convicted in October 2019 of five felonies, including First Degree Murder, and two misdemeanors after an investigation linked him and a codefendant to the shooting death of Jameir Vann-Robinson, of Smyrna.

In May 2018, Bailey and a co-defendant, Eugene Riley of Milford, got into an argument with Vann-Robinson as he and a friend left a house party on Mitscher Road in Dover. During the argument, Bailey and Riley fired several shots, one of which fatally struck Vann-Robinson in the back. The bullets used in the attack had been stolen from a sporting goods store a few days earlier.

Bailey was convicted of First Degree Murder, Attempted Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and Possession of Firearm Ammunition by a Person Prohibited and was sentenced on January 21 to life in prison plus 18 years. He was also given probationary sentences for misdemeanor offenses of Conspiracy Third Degree and Shoplifting. Riley had previously been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a conviction for Second Degree Murder.

Deputy Attorneys General Greg Babowal and Kevin Smith secured this outcome in coordination with Det. Schmid of the Dover Police Department, DOJ Social Worker Esther Powell, Paralegal Sue Balik, and Administrative Specialist Amanda Balke.
