Prosecutors have secured a murder conviction against a Wilmington man for a 2013 robbery that left one dead and another wounded. On June 7, 2013, Anthony Dale, 32, and two other armed men entered the Printz Convenience Market on Governor Printz Blvd. Dale attempted to access an entry to reach the store’s cash register when employee Tony Berry attempted to stop him. During the ensuing struggle, Dale shot Berry twice, killing him. A second employee was shot three times by one of the other suspects. A New Castle County jury convicted Dale of Murder 1stDegree (Intentional Murder), Murder 1st Degree (Felony Murder) and Attempted Murder 1st Degree. Dale, whose convictions carry a life sentence, will be sentenced in March.

Sentences have been secured against two Dover men involved in the murder of 33-year-old Mykal Dempster, also of Dover. On June 1, 2020, Dempster picked up Harry Charles, 16, and Raquian Fisher, 20. After entering the vehicle, Charles shot Dempster six times, with a seventh round hitting a nearby building. Charles was sentenced to 25 years in prison for Murder 2nd Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. Fisher was sentenced to 8 years in prison for Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Reckless Endangering 1st Degree, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.
A Dover man has been convicted for carrying an illegal firearm. On October 21, 2020, Zion Saunders, 21, was searched during a traffic stop in Dover. A concealed firearm was discovered under the driver’s side floor mat. Saunders, who was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to two prior felony convictions, was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited and sentenced to 5 years in prison, followed by probation.
