On Friday, February 24th, the Governor’s Advisory Council for Exceptional Citizens (GACEC) held their Disability History and Awareness Month Poster Contest Celebration. This year’s contest had a theme of “Better Together.” Youth across the state submitted creative works of art depicting specific topics that people with disabilities face. The posters are reviewed and judged by how well the topic was covered.
The celebration had a great turnout where the winners of the contest gathered to celebrate their success. Alongside the winners were their families and supporters from their schools. Also joining in the celebration were Senator Erik Buckson, as well as Tiphani Cade, who attended on behalf of Representative Sherae’a Moore. The GACEC is thankful to everyone who participated and attended this event to help spread awareness and inclusion. Follow us on our new Facebook page to see more photos of the event and stay tuned to our website where we will be uploading all of the posters that were submitted.
