The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office has determined that last night’s fire that heavily damaged a Newark, Delaware house was accidental.
The blaze, reported shortly before 9:30 PM, occurred in the 400 block of New London Road in the Fairfield Crest section of the City of Newark. The Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company reported flames shooting from a 2nd floor window upon arrival.
Deputy fire marshals conducted the investigation. The fire was caused by a malfunctioning floor lamp inside a 2nd floor bedroom. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $75,000. There were no reported injuries.
