Seaford Fire

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a residential structure fire that was reported on February 16, 2025 shortly before 12:30 PM in the 25000 block of Griff’s Way Seaford, Delaware.

The Blades Volunteer Fire Company, Seaford Fire Department and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on scene and found heavy flames coming from a single-family dwelling and garage. The house was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshal’s responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. It was determined that the fire was intentionally started. From this investigation Deputy Fire Marshals assisted by the Georgetown Police Department determined that Robert Emmons age 87 of Seaford, Delaware was the person responsible for starting the fire. Emmons was arrested and charged with Arson 2nd degree and Reckless Endangering 1st degree. Damage is estimated at $700,000.
