DOVER, Del. (September 14, 2026) – The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) in partnership with the Delaware State Police and local law enforcement agencies across the state, conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Checkpoint on Friday, September 11, 2026, in Sussex County.
A total of 671 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, resulting in five DUI arrests.
The checkpoint was part of Delaware’s ongoing efforts to prevent impaired driving and encourage motorists to make responsible choices before getting behind the wheel.
Drivers are reminded that impaired driving can result from alcohol, marijuana, prescription medications, or other drugs. If you plan to drink or use an impairing substance, plan ahead and never drive impaired. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or make other arrangements to get home safely.
Law enforcement agencies will continue conducting enforcement and education efforts throughout Delaware to help keep impaired drivers off the road and protect everyone traveling on Delaware roadways.
