Wilmington. Governor Carney changed upcoming School Board and Municipal Elections in his 6th update to the State of Emergency.
The Governor ordered School Board elections scheduled for May 12th delayed until June 16th.
He also ordered municipal elections scheduled before May 15th cancelled and rescheduled no earlier than May 15, 2020. The Governor further ordered the extension of the terms of existing officeholders until after the re-scheduled elections.
Wilmington – The Department of Elections has established a special 20 day candidate filing period for Christina School District Nominating District B due to a recent vacancy. Persons living in Nominating District B who are qualified to vote in School Board Elections may file to run for the vacant seat with the Department of Elections – New Castle County Office by 4:30 p.m. on April 20, 2017. The Delaware Code also provides that a person may not serve as a School Board member if they hold a paid position subject to the rules and regulation of the School Board.

There are School Board Elections on Tuesday, May 13th in the Appoquinimink, Christina, Colonial and Red Clay Consolidated School Districts. The polls are open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Voters must be US citizens, live in the school district in which they are voting, be 18 years old on or before May 13th and show proof of identity and address before being permitted to vote.
