DNREC Confirms New State Record Golden Tilefish

DNREC has certified a new state record for Golden Tilefish by Logan Smith of Dover after he reeled in a 56-pound 3.2-ounce specimen which measured 42.5-inches in length to surpass the previous record set in 2020 by nearly 3.5 pounds.




DNREC Sets July 14 Temporary Closure of Ommelanden Hunter Ed Training Center’s Trap, Skeet and 5-Stand Ranges

DNREC will temporarily close access to several ranges at the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center and Range in New Castle County starting Monday, July 14. A DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife lead recovery project will collect lead and clay target debris from Ommelanden’s trap, skeet and 5-stand fields. The rifle and pistol range will remain open during the project, for which work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 7.




2025/26 Delaware Hunting and Trapping Guide Now Available

DNREC announced today that the 2025/26 Delaware Hunting and Trapping Guide will be available starting this week from recreational license agents throughout the state, at the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife licensing office in the Richardson & Robbins Building located at 89 Kings Highway in Dover, DE 19901, and online via the DNREC website.




DNREC Schedules Additional Regulatory Review Event, Virtual Forum Seeking More Input on Unamended Regulations

DNREC, which has hosted three regulatory review public hearings this week as required by Delaware Code, announced it will host a fourth regulatory review meeting, a virtual forum providing additional opportunity for the public to engage in the regulatory review process while allowing DNREC to gather more input on whether the regulations subject to review will either be amended or possibly eliminated. The forum will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2. Public participation is encouraged, as the forum is to feature live comment as an option as DNREC solicits more regulatory review input.
