Arbor Day Poster Contest for Grades K to 5

The Delaware Forest Service’s 2020 Arbor Day Poster Contest theme is “Trees Are Terrific…in Many Wonderful Ways!”

To celebrate Arbor Day in the First State, the Delaware Forest Service is once again holding its annual “Arbor Day School Poster Contest” for students in grades K to 5 from all Delaware public, private, home school, after-school, and other organized youth groups. Winning posters will be selected from each of the three counties in the following categories: kindergarten, grades 1 and 2, grades 3 and 4, and grade 5. The twelve winners will be recognized at the annual Statewide Arbor Day Celebration hosted by Governor Carney! A tree planting ceremony will also be scheduled at each winner’s school to celebrate Arbor Day. Details and registration at de.gov/arborday




DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police to host 33rd Annual Youth Fishing Tournament June 1

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police will hold their 2019 Youth Fishing Tournament from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 1, at Ingrams Pond near Millsboro, Akridge Scout Reservation near Camden, and Lums Pond State Park near Bear.




11th Annual Blackbird Creek Fall Festival to celebrate Delaware’s natural treasures Saturday, Oct. 20

DNREC and the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve will showcase one of the most natural areas in Delaware, including autumn’s vibrant foliage within the lush landscape of the Blackbird Creek Reserve, at the 11th Annual Blackbird Creek Fall Festival on Saturday, October 20.

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife invites families with young children to come out to the Aquatic Resources Education Center and enjoy an exciting lineup of “Small Fry Adventures” this summer.

DNREC is again right in the middle of the Delaware State Fair, offering an array of environmental displays in the Department’s climate-controlled building, and game prizes to be won by kids of all ages for showing their knowledge about the state’s natural resources and environment.
