DNREC Reminds Hunters to Remove Portable Deer Stands from State Wildlife Areas

With Delaware’s 2021/2022 deer hunting season having come to a close, hunters are reminded to remove their portable deer stands from state wildlife areas by Tuesday, Feb. 15, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced today. Any deer stands found on state wildlife areas after that date will become the property of DNREC.




Many Hunting Opportunities Available as 2021/22 Hunting Season Nears End

A wide variety of hunting opportunities are available in February, including the opening of the Snow Goose Conservation Order that begins Tuesday, Feb. 1 and the second special youth waterfowl hunting day on Saturday, Feb. 5, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced today.




DNREC Reopens Rehoboth Bay Shellfish Harvest

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control today announced the end of a 21-day emergency closure of commercial and recreational shellfish harvest of oysters, clams and mussels in the Rehoboth Bay that went into effect Dec. 28 after a spill from a residential sewer line in the Long Neck area of Sussex County discharged untreated wastewater into the bay.




DNREC to Close, Reduce Hours at Some Facilities for January

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) will close or reduce hours for several public activities and facilities following the surge in coronavirus cases driven by the omicron variant.




Additional Delaware Deer Hunting Seasons to Open in January

Firearm deer hunting seasons opening in January and continuing archery deer seasons provide the last chance for hunters to harvest deer during the general 2021/22 Delaware hunting season, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced today.
