DNREC Reopens Port Mahon Fishing Pier After Emergency Repairs

The Port Mahon Fishing Pier has been reopened after completion of emergency repairs, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced today. The pier, located off Port Mahon Road east of Dover, was closed last fall for repairs to a broken support pile. The broken support pile has been repaired and several of the pier’s lateral timber bracing beams replaced. The repairs were completed ahead of schedule and in time for the 2022 fishing season.

Port Mahon Fishing Pier to Close for Emergency Repairs

The Port Mahon pier east of Dover is currently closed for emergency repairs.

 

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has closed the Port Mahon Fishing Pier off Port Mahon Road east of Dover until further notice for emergency repairs after a broken support piling was found during a routine inspection. The pier’s closure by the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife is a precautionary safety measure.

The support piling will be repaired as soon as possible, at which time DNREC will reopen the pier.

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police make arrests for drug and prostitution charges

DOVER – DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police arrested a Kent County woman for multiple drug-related and prostitution charges and a Kent County man for prostitution-related charges on Sept. 22 along Port Mahon Road near the Little Creek Wildlife Area outside Dover.

Yuliya A. Rakovsky, 29, of Dover, was charged with one count each of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance/cocaine; possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance/heroin; possession of drug paraphernalia not marijuana-related; and prostitution.

Charles T. Stelljes, 71, of Leipsic, was charged with one count of patronizing a prostitute.

Both Rakovsky and Stelljes were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover. Rakovsky was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond, while Stelljes was released on a $500 unsecured bond, both pending future court appearances in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife to temporarily close Port Mahon Fishing Pier for repairs

DOVER – DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today that the Port Mahon Fishing Pier is scheduled to temporarily close starting Sept. 17 to replace all pier decking. The pier will remain closed for the duration of the repairs, with an anticipated completion date in late October, weather permitting.
