Delaware Is Cracking Down on Distracted Driving. Phone in One Hand. Ticket in the Other. Enforcement Campaign Begins November 7th

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety has teamed up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and 42 law enforcement agencies across the State to eliminate handheld cell phone use and texting by motorists traveling on Delaware’s roadways. Beginning November 7 through November 20, Delaware law enforcement will be out in force to make sure drivers keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.




DUI Checkpoints Scheduled for Halloween Weekend

Delaware law enforcement officers statewide arrested 15 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs last weekend (Oct. 19-20). The arrests were the result of three sobriety checkpoints. This brings the total of DUI arrests under the 2012 Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign to 213. There have been over 4,000 DUI arrests made statewide since January.




‘Are You That Guy?’ Aggressive Driving Enforcement Set

The Office of Highway Safety has coordinated another wave of overtime Aggressive Driving enforcement and is set to conduct enforcement from October 23rd to November 3rd. Law enforcement agencies participating in the enforcement include Delaware State Police in all three counties, along with the Georgetown, Milford, Newark, New Castle County, Seaford, and Wilmington police departments.




198 DUI Arrests To Date for the Checkpoint Strikeforce Campign

There have been a total of 198 DUI arrests made since June 29th as part of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign. There have been over 3,800 DUI arrests made statewide since January.




NASCAR Weekend Checkpoint Results

Officers arrested 6 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs over NASCAR weekend as part of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign.
