STATEMENT: Governor Carney on Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework

WILMINGTON, Del. — Governor John Carney on Thursday issued the following statement on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework announced by President Biden on Thursday:

“This is a historic, bipartisan agreement on infrastructure that would create millions of good-paying new jobs and position American workers and businesses to compete in a 21st century economy. It’s the largest infrastructure plan in more than a century, and would represent the largest investment in transportation and public transit in American history. This framework would also make important investments to upgrade our clean water infrastructure, and deliver reliable high-speed internet service to every American family. That’s how we’ll drive economic growth over the long term – and prove we can still come together to get big things done.”

STATEMENT: Governor Carney on Fiscal Year 2022 Budget Passing General Assembly

WILMINGTON, Del.Governor John Carney on Thursday issued the following statement about the General Assembly’s passage of House Bill 250, the State of Delaware’s operating budget for Fiscal Year 2022:

“I want to thank members of the Joint Finance Committee – and especially the chairs, Representative Carson and Senator Paradee – for their thoughtful work on this budget in such an unusual year. This is a responsible, sustainable financial plan that protects taxpayer dollars and invests in the future of our state. In this budget, we’re investing more than ever in our classrooms, and in direct services for low-income students and English learners. These are the children who need our help the most. We’re adding to our budget reserves so we’ll again be ready if we face a crisis or revenue downturn. And we’re investing in our state workers, who have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic since Day 1. I look forward to signing this budget soon.”

Statement from Governor John Carney

Governor John Carney on Tuesday released the following statement:

“The guilty verdict in Minneapolis brings an important measure of justice for George Floyd, for his family and friends, and for so many Americans who were deeply affected by this case. Mr. Floyd’s killing opened deep wounds around racial injustice and policing. In the months since his killing, I’ve heard that pain and anger in the voices of so many Delawareans. My hope is this verdict helps us move forward productively – in good faith – to improve relationships between law enforcement and communities of color. And to seriously address the root causes of racial injustice that persist in our state and country.”
