Criminal Division | Department of Justice | Department of Justice Press Releases | Date Posted: Friday, July 13, 2012

Wilmington – An investigation by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a New Castle man on charges of dealing child pornography, Attorney General Beau Biden announced today.  Shannon L. Williams, 28, was arrested Thursday, July 12 following the execution of a search warrant at his residence by Task Force and Delaware State Police personnel.

“The proactive investigations of the Child Predator Task Force root out predators who try to hide online, before they can victimize more children offline,” said Attorney General Biden.

An online undercover investigation into dealing child pornography led detectives to Williams’ residence in the William Penn Village Apartments in New Castle, for which they obtained a search warrant. After executing that warrant on July 12, detectives seized a desktop computer and other assorted digital media, which were taken to Delaware State Police Troop #2 for forensic examination. Williams was also taken to Troop #2 for further investigation.

A forensic examination of the computer revealed 25 files containing child pornography. Williams was arrested and charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. He was arraigned by videophone at J.P. Court #2 and ordered held on $375,000 secured bail. Williams was then transported to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna.

A booking photo of Williams is attached.
