Restoration underway along Delaware Bayshore to repair and enhance beaches, critical wetlands and natural defenses

Restoration work has begun at Mispillion Harbor Reserve and the Ted Harvey Conservation Area on two key DNREC projects that will repair and restore beaches, critical wetlands and other natural defenses. Both Division of Fish and Wildlife projects protect and restore wildlife habitat, improve coastal resiliency and preparedness to storms, and protect public safety and property by reducing flooding to communities, while enhancing ecotourism and recreational activities along the Delaware Bayshore.




DNREC holds public hearings Sept. 15, 19 and 21 for comments on state’s regulatory review process

In accordance with 29 Delaware Code, Section 10407, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is conducting a review of agency regulations that have not been amended during the last four years. A listing of regulations subject to this review can be found on DNREC’s website. The three-month review period began Aug. 4 and concludes Nov. 4.

Delaware wildfire crew returns to First State

After two weeks of battling wildfires in the rugged terrain of Idaho, a Delaware wildfire crew is returning to Blackbird State Forest on September 11 at approximately 8 a.m.

The team was dispatched by the Delaware Forest Service on August 25 at a time when the National Fire Preparedness Level was 4 on a 5-point scale. Over the past 14 days, the team battled the 52,972-acre Henry’s Creek Fire near Idaho Falls and the 1260-acre Grape Creek Fire, located 6 miles southwest of Elba, Idaho.
