DOVER, Del. (July 15, 2026) – The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) in partnership with the Delaware State police and local law enforcement agencies across the state, conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Checkpoint on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Sussex County.
A total of 983 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, resulting in four DUI arrests.
While law enforcement remains committed to identifying and removing impaired drivers from Delaware roadways, the checkpoint results also reflect the importance of education, enforcement, and personal responsibility. More Delawareans are planning ahead by choosing designated drivers, using ride-share services, or making other arrangements to get home safely after consuming alcohol.
Ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, OHS partnered with Grotto Pizza to remind Delawareans of the importance of planning a sober ride before celebrating. The Alive in DE campaign encouraged motorists to make responsible choices and never get behind the wheel while impaired.
