The Delaware Attorney General’s office will participate in two National Night Out activities in New Castle County on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009. The 26th Annual National Night Out brings together residents, civic organizations, businesses, and law enforcements for a lively and entertaining night of food, fun, and festivities.

“National Night Out sends a strong message to criminals that neighborhoods are united and that
they will not be intimidated,” stated Richard S. Gebelein, Chief Deputy Attorney General. “We’re
proud to stand with the community in the fight to reduce crime and make our communities safer.”
Designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, National Night Out generates
support for and community participation in local programs that help to combat crime by strengthening
neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. The Attorney General’s office will be on
hand from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at National Night Out events hosted by New Castle County Police at
Woodshaven Park (Naamans Road and Darley Road) and Banning Park (Maryland Avenue and
Middleboro Road) with information about a range of programs it sponsors, including community
prosecution, victim services, nuisance abatement, and consumer fraud prevention efforts.
