Governor’s Weekly Message: Helping Small Businesses by Cutting Regulatory Red Tape

Former Governor Jack Markell (2009-2017) | News | Date Posted: Friday, June 15, 2012

DOVER – In his weekly message, Governor Markell talks about the Executive Order he signed this week that helps small businesses by launching a public process to evaluate regulations that have been in place for at least three years in an effort to bring citizens, businesses and state agencies together to identify and remove regulatory hurdles.

“Over the next year, each of our agencies that have any kind of regulations will be hosting public meetings in each county so that members of the public and businesses can come in and tell us which regulations are not working for them,” said the Governor.  “We want to know when regulations aren’t working – when they’re intrusive, when they’re slowing things down. By taking this
information in from the public and getting their perspective, it will allow us to take a hard look at what’s working, what’s not working and what we ought to change.”

At noon every Friday, the Governor’s office releases a new Weekly Message in video, audio, and transcript form.  The message is available on:
