The Governor extended his deepest sympathies to the family of William Marshall Redd, Jr., former mayor of Newark, someone the Governor knew and admired over many years.
“My heart goes out to Anne, Cathy, Nancy, the grandchildren and all of Mayor Redd’s family. I had the privilege of getting to know and learn from Mayor Redd when I was growing up in Newark and he has been a wonderful mentor to me during my time in public life. As humble as he was devoted to the City of Newark, Mayor Redd epitomized the very best of what Delawareans deserve from their elected officials. No one could care more deeply about family and community. He truly lived the principle of loving your neighbor as yourself.
“While this is a difficult loss, those who knew him can take solace that the incredible legacy he built will continue to touch many thousands of Delawareans for many generations to come.”
