Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart Announces an Increase of Nearly 50 Percent in Money Recovered for Delaware Consumers for First Half of 2014, Compared to 2013

Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart and the Delaware Department of Insurance report that $1,407,464.40 has been recovered for consumers in the first six months of 2014. This number represents an increase of 49.57 percent in funds recovered for Delaware consumers compared to the same period last year.

Delaware Governor Jack Markell, Perdue Farms Chairman & CEO Jim Perdue, and DuPont Pioneer representatives celebrated a venture today that is increasing economic opportunity for Delaware farmers and creating healthier foods for consumers. In remarks at the Delaware Department of Agriculture’s Education Building, officials and company executives shared the successes and plans for future growth of DuPont Pioneer’s Plenish brand high-oleic soybean oil, a soy-based trans fat-free alternative for food companies and for foodservice operators.




Checkpoint Strikeforce DUI Enforcement Continues

One Checkpoint Strikeforce DUI checkpoint is scheduled to take place Saturday July 26th, in Rehoboth Beach and will be conducted by the Delaware State Police. DUI saturation patrols will also be conducted this weekend by Dover PD, Laurel PD, Rehoboth PD, and Smyrna PD.

At the Agricultural Commodities Building at the Delaware State Fair, USDA Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse and Governor Jack Markell were joined by USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) State Executive Director Bob Walls, DDA Secretary Ed Kee and DNREC Secretary David Small to announce an increase in the maximum incentives available for landowners and agricultural producers through the Delaware Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP).
