Wilmington, DE – Governor Markell issued the following statement applauding the selection of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Janice Nevin as Christiana Care Health System’s next President and CEO:

“In selecting Dr. Nevin as CEO, Christiana Care Health System’s Board of Directors has chosen an extraordinary leader with a vision for improving the health of Delawareans. In addition to her outstanding record over more than a decade of strengthening our largest health care provider, Dr. Nevin has demonstrated a firm commitment to improving the quality of life in our communities while serving with distinction on the Delaware Health Care Commission.

“Dr. Nevin will assume her role at a critical time for the future of health care in our state as we are working together with health care professionals, insurers, businesses, community organizations and others on a State Health Innovation Plan to transform the way we provide and pay for services. Her focus on patient-centered care and improving the health of our state as a whole will be indispensable as we move forward. As a state we could not ask for a better leader representing Christiana Care Health System, which has been an integral partner in this work.”
