Painter Tom Newby to show work in the Mezzanine Gallery in November

The Delaware Division of the Arts Mezzanine Gallery is pleased to present Recent Work: Sacred and Profane, an exhibition of new work by 2015 Individual Artist Fellow Tom Newby. The exhibition will be on view from November 6 – 25, with an opening reception on November 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Gallery, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is located in the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington.
Tom Newby works in a broad range of media. His efforts range from installation and sculptural assemblage to figure drawings and painting. His current series utilizes appropriated images from the corporate landscape to reinterpret classic themes from art history.
In this exhibit Tom Newby continues his exploration of classical themes in western art through the prism of the contemporary corporate landscape. Along with paintings from his “Ubiquitous Figure Series” this exhibition introduces nine newly created works based on figures found in Greek mythology.
Tom Newby lives and works in Wilmington, Delaware.
