Governor Carney, along with DNREC Secretary Garvin and officials with the Delaware Association of Conservation Districts and the USDA, led a ceremony recognizing this year’s Governor’s Agricultural and Urban Conservation Awards honorees and signed a proclamation officially designating April 30-May 7 as Soil and Water Stewardship Week in Delaware.




Training for volunteer beachnesting bird monitors set for May 13

Volunteers who want to help protect Delaware’s endangered piping plovers and other beachnesting birds are invited to join DNREC’s monitoring team and attend a training session held by the Division of Fish & Wildlife from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 13, at Cape Henlopen State Park’s Biden Environmental Training Center.

Office of Animal Welfare Seeks Public’s Assistance in Case Involving Death of a Dog

Delaware Animal Services (DAS), the Enforcement Division of the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) Office of Animal Welfare, is seeking assistance from the community to solve a suspected animal cruelty case in Smyrna. Officers are conducting an investigation after a dog was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in the 300 block of Eagle Way in Smyrna. Officers believe the dog went missing from the owner’s property on Saturday evening. The dog was then found dead in its owner’s yard in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 2, 2017. The dog was an adult female black pitbull mix breed dog.
