I-95/SR 141 Ramp Interchange Project Will Require Nighttime Lane Closures/Shifts on I-95 NB and I-295 NB Week of 4/16

The Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DelDOT) contractor, Mumford and Miller Inc., will implement nighttime lane closures next week for beam placement for the new SR 141 bridge and travel delays should be expected.

I-295 Northbound Shifted to I-95 Northbound on the following dates and times:
 • 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018 until 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018
• 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018  until 5:00 a.m on Wednesday, April 18, 2018

I-95 northbound will be reduced to just the two left lanes and the contractor will be shifting I-295 northbound traffic to I-95 northbound between Exit 5 and past the Route 141 northbound interchange before merging again with I-295 northbound via the temporary crossover. The SR 141 southbound ramp (Exit 2) to I-295 northbound will be also closed during this time period.

Detour Routes:

  • I-295 northbound motorists will use the right lane signed for I-95 northbound and stay in the right lane of I-95 and then use the temporary crossover just past the work zone to go back onto I-295 northbound.
  • SR 141 southbound to I-295 northbound motorists should follow detour signs to make a right on Commons Boulevard, a right onto Churchmans Road, a left onto SR 1/7 southbound, and merge onto I-95 northbound.

I-95 Northbound Shifted to I-295 Northbound on the following dates and times:
• 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 until 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018
 • 8:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 until 5:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018
• 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018

All I-95 northbound lanes will be closing and shifting to I-295 northbound between Exit 5 and past the Route 141 northbound interchange before merging again with I-95 northbound via the temporary crossover. The SR 141 northbound ramp (Exit 3A) to I-95 northbound and SR 141 southbound ramp (Exit 3A) to I-95 northbound will also be closed during this time period.

Detour Routes:

  • I-95 northbound motorists will use the right lanes signed for I-295 northbound and stay in the left lane of I-295 and then use the temporary crossover just past the work zone to go back onto I-95 northbound.
  • SR 141 northbound to I-95 northbound motorists should follow detour signs and make a left on Commons Boulevard, a right onto Churchmans Road, a left onto SR 1/7 southbound, and merge onto I-95 northbound.
  • SR 141 southbound to I-95 northbound motorists should follow detour signs to make a right on Commons Boulevard, a right onto Churchmans Road, a left onto SR 1/7 southbound, and merge onto I-95 northbound.

Motorists may adjust their routes or travel times by using DelDOT’s Smartphone application. The free DelDOT App is available for Apple and Android smart phones and tablets, and can be downloaded by searching for “DelDOT” at the Apple and Google Play stores. With the DelDOT App you can view real time traffic cameras, travel times, delays, advisories, DART’s Real-Time Transit Information, and also listen to WTMC 1380 AM.
