Secretary of Education Susan Bunting will honor top public school students from the Class of 2019 at the annual Secretary of Education Scholars banquet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dover Downs Hotel in Dover.

The 87 students’ accomplishments will be celebrated by Governor John Carney and some of the state’s other political and education leaders, who will be joined by their families, district superintendents, heads of charter schools and principals. The number of scholars from each school is based on enrollment, and principals select the students based on both their academic records and community service.

“This is an inspiring group of young people. Each has academically excelled while also making significant contributions to his or her school and community through volunteer service, school leadership and athletic achievement,” Bunting said.

The state has named Secretary of Education Scholars every year since 1984.

The 2019 Secretary’s Scholars are listed by district/charter and school here.
