DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announces expanded deer hunting opportunities for state’s 2018/2019 season

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today expanded deer hunting opportunities for the 2018/2019 hunting season. Recent changes in state law substantially increase the number of Sundays when deer can be hunted, and also allow the use of certain straight-wall, pistol-caliber rifles for some deer hunting seasons.

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police arrested a Milford woman Sunday on multiple drug-related charges at the Division of Fish & Wildlife-managed Coursey Pond Fishing Area near Felton.

DOVER – To achieve public compliance with laws and regulations through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Sept. 3-9 made 1,886 contacts with hunters, anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 42 citations. Officers responded to 50 complaints regarding possible violations of laws and regulations or requests to assist the public. An increased Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police presence continued at the C&D Canal Conservation Area and Michael N. Castle Trail.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife to temporarily close Port Mahon Fishing Pier for repairs

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today that the Port Mahon Fishing Pier is scheduled to temporarily close starting Sept. 17 to replace all pier decking. The pier will remain closed for the duration of the repairs, with an anticipated completion date in late October, weather permitting.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife confirms new state record 79-pound, 6.4-ounce cobia

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife has confirmed a new state record in the Delaware Sport Fishing Tournament: a 79-pound, 6.4-ounce Cobia, caught in the Atlantic Ocean on Aug. 10 by John Burbage of Ocean View. The fish was 56½ inches long and had a girth of 28¼ inches.
