Wilmington, DE – In his weekly message, Governor Markell marks the final phase of construction of the Industrial Track Trail, part of the more than 50 miles of new trails and pathways as part of a statewide initiative launched under his administration. While raising Delaware ranking among the most bikeable states from 31st to the third, the effort is making Delaware also helping attract new visitors and residents, while providing more options for transportation and for living a healthy lifestyle.

This week we marked the beginning of construction on the final link of the New Castle Industrial Track Trail, a critical segment of the 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway. When complete, it will join with the Wilmington riverfront to provide a walking and bicycling connection between downtown Wilmington and Old New Castle. It will create commuting options for Delawareans who live and work downtown and expand recreational opportunities for area residents and visitors.
