OHS Announces Start of Motorcycle Safety Campaign

Dover – Motorcycle crashes have been on the rise nationally for the past ten years. And in the last five, while fatal crashes involving a motorcyclist in Delaware have gone up and down, injury crashes have steadily increased. That is why the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) has launched a new Motorcycle Safety campaign titled Respect Your Ride. This campaign, aimed at motorcyclists, directs riders to www.MotorcyclesafetyDE.org, where they can find information about the proper tools and training to make them the safest rider they can be.




Finding A Designated Driver On St. Patrick’s Day Isn’t Luck. It’s Smart.

St. Patrick’s Day is just two weeks away and the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) is reminding everyone to make plans to secure a designated driver if you plan to go out and celebrate the holiday. The New Castle County DUI Task Force is planning to coordinate a checkpoint to coincide with the pre-St. Patricks day festivities in Wilmington on Saturday, March 10th. Finding a designated driver on St. Patrick’s Day won’t be luck, it will be smart.

133 Cited for Seat Belt Violations During 1st Wave of Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign 2012

Dover – Delaware law enforcement officers issued 133 citations for seat belt violations during the first wave of seat belt enforcement for 2012. Coordinated by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety, the two week long safety campaign (Jan 22-Feb. 5) focused on increasing seat belt use statewide with roving and stationary traffic safety patrols in towns and cities where data shows seat belt use is lacking.
