DNREC, DHSS now accepting grant proposals for wastewater, surface water, and drinking water project planning

DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship and office of Environmental Finance, and the Department of Health and Social Services’ (DHSS) Division of Public Health are now accepting project proposals from state, county and municipal governments and governmental subdivisions for matching grants for wastewater, surface water and drinking water project planning.




H. Donovan Phillips Jr. appointed as Delaware member of Chesapeake Bay Local Government Advisory Committee

DOVER – Governor Jack Markell has appointed H. Donovan Phillips, Jr. to serve as a member of the Chesapeake Bay Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC), created by the Chesapeake Bay Executive Council through the 1987 Chesapeake Bay Agreement. The Chesapeake Executive Council – whose members include the governors of Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, the Mayor of the District of Columbia, the Chesapeake Bay Commission Chair and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator – was established in 1983 with responsibilities for guiding the Chesapeake Bay Program’s policy agenda and setting conservation and restoration goals for the bay.




Water Infrastructure Advisory Council to hold meeting Dec. 7 in Dover

The Delaware Water Infrastructure Advisory Council will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 in Conference Room 220, Kent County Administrative Complex, 555 South Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901.




DNREC requests EPA assistance in resolving groundwater concerns in Newark area

DOVER – Following nearly two decades of successful efforts by the City of Newark, DNREC and the Division of Public Health Office of Drinking Water (DPH ODW) to maintain a safe drinking water supply for the city, DNREC is requesting federal assistance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in resolving groundwater concerns in the Newark area and determining the sources of contamination there.




DNREC schedules Tuesday, Nov. 15 public hearing in Rehoboth on city’s proposed wastewater projects

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will hold a public hearing Tuesday, Nov. 15 on several wastewater projects proposed by the City of Rehoboth Beach, including the city’s ocean outfall.
