Biden announces that Toyota will pay rental and other costs of recent recalls

Consumer Protection | Department of Justice | Department of Justice Press Releases | Date Posted: Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Attorney General Beau Biden announced today that Toyota will bear the costs associated with the repair of recalled vehicles in Delaware, including rental, towing, and taxi fees. In recent weeks, Toyota has announced recalls nationwide concerning floor mat pedal entrapment issues, sticking accelerator pedals, and ABS software updates. “Car owners should not bear the financial burden of paying expensive repairs and transportation costs that result from these recalls,” Attorney General Biden stated. “We will continue to address any consumer issues that arise.” The Delaware Department of Justice partnered with other states to secure this commitment. Toyota and Lexus owners can obtain specific information about Toyota’s recall program by contacting their local dealer. Biden urged consumers who have questions about the Toyota recalls to contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Hotline at 800-220-5424. # # #
