Wilmington – A proactive online undercover Child Predator Task Force investigation into the distribution of child pornography has led to the arrest of a Wilmington area man on multiple counts, Attorney General Beau Biden announced today.

“Every day our Child Predator Task Force is using the latest cutting-edge technology to identify and track down those who would harm our kids,” Biden stated.

The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant on January 3 by Task Force personnel, along with support from Delaware State Police, at a residence in the 200 block of Spruce Avenue in Newport.  While executing the search warrant, detectives identified resident Leon D. Smallwood, III, age 21, as a person of interest and took him to Troop #6 for questioning.  Detectives also seized several computers and other digital evidence.  A forensic preview of the seized evidence revealed multiple videos of child pornography.

Based on the evidence, Smallwood was arrested and charged with 25 counts of Dealing in Child Pornography.  He was arraigned via videophone by JP Court #2 and was taken to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $187,500 secured bail.

The investigation continues.

A booking image of Smallwood is attached.
