NEWARK (April 16, 2013) – White Clay Wild and Scenic Program, in partnership with DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation, United Water Suez Environment and the National Park Service, invites the public to the fifth annual White Clay Creek Fest scheduled for May 4 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Carpenter Recreation Area in White Clay Creek State Park – just minutes away from University of Delaware’s north campus.

Creek Fest celebrates the many ways to enjoy and protect the White Clay Creek, a National Wild and Scenic River. Visitors are encouraged to come early for an 11 a.m. pre-fest Mason Dixon hike led by the Pennsylvania Friends of White Clay Creek Preserve. Entertainment acts sponsored by the American Mushroom Institute, the City of Newark and Friends of White Clay Creek State Park are featured. The rain date is May 5.

Visitors of all ages will enjoy live music by Baltimore-based band Unity Reggae and the antics of the Juggling Hoffmans and be amazed at the power and precision of the Free-Flight Bird Encounter by Animal Behavior and Conservation Connections. Falafel from Newark’s Home Grown Café, pizza from Wood Fired Pizza and ice cream by UDairy Creamery are sure to satisfy. Fly tying, crafts, gardening tips, environmental discussions and much more are part of this fun and exciting day. There will be giveaways and prizes, including native plants, and the first 290 attendees will received free water bottles.
