House Fire In Lewes, De. Accidental

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined that today’s fire that heavily damaged a Lewes, Delaware house was accidental.

The Lewes Fire Department responded to the 15000 block of Robinson Drive near Coastal Highway just before 5:00 pm for a 9-1-1 report of a house on fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene with flames shooting out of the home’s attached garage. Multiple mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.

State fire investigators were requested to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. The investigation revealed that a malfunctioning golf cart inside the garage sparked the blaze. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $350,000. No injuries were reported. Two adults have been displaced.
